Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam will be an extraordinary energy neutral built hotel on ‘Kop Java-Island’ in the river IJ.
Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam: energy neutral built
Hotel Jakarta is a spectacular building with a sustainable, industrial character, lots of transparent glass facades and a unique 30 meters high wooden main support structure. The beams, columns and ceilings are made of natural wood. The materials chosen are durable and have the FSC or PEFC quality mark. Almost all the elements that are being used and which have a short life span or are not recyclable are reused by disassembly.
There are many energy-saving measures taken in Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam: this will collect rainwater to spray the subtropical indoor garden. Via PV panels in the facade and in the roof of the atrium, solar energy is collected, which is converted into electricity to heat the shower water.
Expected opening Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam: March 2018
The Netherlands, water land
WestCord Hotels is a Dutch family company and certainly has a connection to water! It al began in 1968 with Hotel de Wadden on the island of Vlieland, now the company has grown to a chain to which the famous ss Rotterdam and Hotel New York belong.
Especially the latter makes Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam particularly interesting: where migrants used to depart from Rotterdam over the water to the city of New York, from Java-Island people left by boat to ‘the East’. At exactly this spot the new Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam will be built.
